Accessibility Statement for Crookham Village Parish Council Website
Crookham Village Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This accessibility statement applies to
https://crookhamvillage-pc.gov.uk
How accessible this website is
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using accessibility tools provided
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader such as JAWS, NVDA or VoiceOver
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
Accessibility tools
To assist with website accessibility, Crookham Village Parish Council uses the All In One Accessibility widget.
Located at the bottom right of the website, this widget offers a selection of features that users can mix and match to meet their individual accessibility needs. Each setting can be turned on or off and interacts with users’ browser session. The functions include, but are not limited to:
- Increase text size – enlarge text for improved readability
- Decrease text size – reduce text size for a more compact view
- High contrast mode – boost visual contrast between foreground and background
- Keyboard navigation assistance – supports navigating the site using only a keyboard
- Screen reader support assistance – improves compatibility with assistive technologies
- Other accessibility adjustments as configured in the widget
These features help improve accessibility but do not replace manual testing or guarantee WCAG compliance on every page.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
Non-accessible content
Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible:
- Some images may not have alternative text that describes their purpose.
- Some colour combinations on older pages may not meet WCAG contrast requirements.
- PDF documents published before 23 September 2018 may not be fully accessible to screen reader software.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 are exempt from full accessibility requirements unless they are essential for delivering services.
Third-party content not under the council’s control may not be fully accessible.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We regularly review the website and aim to:
- ensure new content meets WCAG 2.2 AA standards
- improve colour contrast and accessibility of page elements
- provide accessible alternatives on request
